With the butterfly valves closed it sounds pretty stock and when opened, it has a lovely pleasant growl that’s louder but not obnoxious. I went with a Varex Xforce unit and from the little I’ve driven it so far it’s wonderful. Pictures and video to come later. Not it’s time to put my mufflers under my bed.

Awesome, exhaust cutouts are on my bucket list. I bet they’re so much fun to mess around with.

The new STi/WRX is really growing on me I must say. The want is growing stronger by the day.

They’re actually not quite exhaust cutouts, they just do redirect the flow of exhaust gasses through the muffler.

I came soooo close to getting a Crosstrek in that color. Ended up going for a CPO 2014 Outback 6MT (last year for that option). Not the 6 speed Subaru I wanted, but the 6 speed Subaru I can afford to insure.

I went with a full 3" tb on my sti with a Megan racing at the rear and a 3" cutout at the downpipe. It's an utter shame the exhaust Subaru puts on these from the factory. Also hyper blue is making me extremely jealous. As soon at the fa2x sti comes out, if it's available in HB I'll have the first in the country.

Oh, I bet that sounds kick ass. I just wanted something a little bit louder than stock.

nice!

My 15 wrx (which also has a 6 speed now!) is surprisingly affordable to insure, good coverage for less than 1600/yr and I just turned 25 so I expect the next 6 months will be cheaper still.

I think insurance companies look the other was as long as they don’t see STI in you request

My local Subaru dealer had exactly 3 manual cars on the lot. 1/3 of their BRZ’s, the only STI, and the Outback I bought.

I’m 21, and with hefty discounts (and a squeaky clean record!) I pay about $1,600 a year for insurance. My ‘rents are helping me with vehicle costs for the last 3 semesters until I have my mechanical engineering degree, since my old car shit the bed over winter break. I figure having such a practical and relatively affordable car in my life leaves the door wide open for something that comes with a turbo and in Hyper Blue when I’m your age....

That’s funny, I’m a mechanical engineer too. My old car which I got used when I was 16 lasted long enough that I was able to work and save for a couple years and make a big down payment when I bought mine.
